listening to wizard people, dear reader, of course...
waiting for laundry to be done swooshing around inside a metal tub filled with water and detergent. remember old guy? well, here at the Disney College Program there's old guy. and older guy. and waaaaay older girl. there's at least 5 people over the age of 30, perhaps more, living in our complex alone, as well as one woman who is at least 60. i don't know how many are over at Vista, or the Commons, but it's funny. so we have our own band of old guys here at this satellite extension of "college."
i wish i knew what i wanted right now. and obviously, i wish i could know what i'd want 5 weeks from now and 5 months from now. but that is impossible. obviously. i can see into the future however: my vision says that i will become a lot more prolific and emo with my blogging.
it's disgusting how much fast food i've eaten while down here...ew. it's just so easy. and cheap. fuck. at least i always have subway during the day at work... :-\ pssh yeah right
guitar hero 3: legends of rock is pretty bomb. i can't wait to beat the shit out of it.
i made out with some gay friends at mannequins. the whole place was staring. some say my underwear shone at times...whatevs
we totally pimped OHRC (operational hourly ride capacity) challenge today. i got a million of a prizes, including a sweet mini blue light saber. bones.
i saw ghostbusters for the first time this evening...at dylan's house *sw00nz0rs*
i'm a dork....
by the way, this really is the best thing ever:
Brad Neely is basically my hero. I find (almost) everything he produces to be some of the funniest shit ever created.
that is all i have to say about that. this happens to be my particularly favorite chapter from wizard people, dear reader. a classic Neelian...thingy
i better get to sleep...wanna be well rested for all that awesome i'm gonna be tomorrow...as per usual!
so these two dudes at work played a trick on me today in which one called launch base, telling the other one to call me at standby greeter and tell me that the manager had extended me to midnight, and sometimes they do that without asking...and i believed him...because i'm dumb. oops.
needless to say, i did not have to stay for t and a (test and adjust...but also tits and ass...you can't have rock n' rollercoaster without tits and ass, frankly) which wasn't even happening tonight, let alone until midnight. extension from 1:45 to midnight. how could i possibly have fallen for that. i'm a silly willy nilly, that's why.
i really hope my roommate isn't mad at me...
i would be most sad about this...
i also want to hang out with dylan...like, a lot...
he's adorable...
you're entering some dangerous territory, pilgrim. can't ever say ya didn't see it comin'. can't ever say i didn't warn ya.
it's also possible that said territory is not even remotely dangerous, and can be avoided with a simple detour. perhaps.
also, a chilling vision of my death:
In case you weren't aware of William Pell Saunders' psychic abilities, here is the living proof. Or dead. Depending upon which panel you're looking at. BEWARE THE BEHATTED LLAMA!
i think i took someone out on a date on Halloween, but i'm not sure still...
considering the fact that i've never been on an actual date in my entire life...
i don't know what's going on.
i got my Family Holiday Celebration package in the mail, finally! sweet deals all around on food and drink, and also merriment throughout the magical world of disney...i also scored Coronado Springs at $58 a night for when Dr. Deb is visiting in december...
speaking of which, the Doctors Lavin are gonna be here on THURSDAY! i'm totally stoked...i did a little around the world fooding last night to get ready for this weekend....
Peru - Arroz con Pato - a wild rice with peas and carrots with roasted duck. The duck was splendid, quite tender with a little kick to it. The rice was crunchy and i don't know if that was on purpose, or because it was undercooked. No matter...it added a nice texture to the dish ;)
New Zealand - Lamb Slider - the roll it was on was phenomenal! A little crusty on the outside, and soft and slightly sweet on the inside. The lamb was done to perfection, and the mustard sauce had a nice little zing to it.
France - Escargots Persillade en Brioche and Quiche au Fromage de Chevre - HOLY BALLS! the snails just tasted like straight up garlic flavored butter in a delicious little bread bowl, holy crap they were good. The quiche was smooth with a slight bite to it from the tangy cheese, and the sweet, chewy sundried tomatoes. The crust was excellent.
Japan - Crispy Sukiyaki Beef Roll - very very good. the crispiness added good texture and the sauce was sweet and slightly spicy. excellent.
Poland - Kielbasa and Potato Pierogies - so good! the kielbasa was spicy and juicy, and the pierogies were soft and smooth with a slightly crisped envelope. yummers.
Turkey - Manti with Yogurt Sauce - really great....a ground beef ravioli with a smooth yogurt and paprika sauce...the yogurt sauce was almost like a sour cream, and the paprika added a nice kick. the ravioli itself was nice and moist, and yummers!
China - Pork Pot Stickers - wow! these were awesome. they were sweet and tangy, and perfectly fried yet also soft on the outside. definitely a more than one time deal!
today was my first real day at RNR...it was money in the bank! i was out at Greeter for a million years which sucked, but allowed for good guest interaction...truth be told, there's some opportunity in all positions, just not as in depth as Playhouse or (i guess) super greeting...
so for those people who thought i might get sick of it here: not happenin'...i was driving around, and a sense of mundanity (ha. maybe that'll catch on) struck me as in "oh, i'm just cruisin' down osceola parkway, because i live here" you know that kinda thing...but it still feels special and magical, frankly...so yeah i live in Disney World, and it's still amazing!
i'm so hungry!
I rode a bike today for the first time in who knows? 10? 12 years? I don't know! it was awesome.
i worked Fantasmic! today for the first time in like 5 weeks...it was alright, it's just hurtful on the body sometimes oy! my knees! i'm not gonna squat during parade anymore like we're supposed to, gourd forbid i have to do it again ;) anyways...
my assessment for Rock N' Roller Coaster is tomorrow...at 8 am...oy...i have to remember to buy an enteman's crumb cake for my assessor...hardee har har
my sock tan is worse than ever.
so my whirlwind tour of Washington, D.C. was fun this weekend...after i got on a plane, of course...i missed the screening of my doc by a matter of minutes (if only i hadn't run into starbucks to change my outfit!) but no matter, i watched it later, and i got my Q&A a few hours later in the program...was that why they had very few questions and comments? perhaps...but i know that i answered one query as to how i got the idea with this "...i always thought Civil War Reenactors were, and excuse the expression, Old Farts..."
such a comment might not have been so bad had my audience not been comprised of...well, there weren't more than 5 people under the age of 60. i panicked slightly, thinking that i deeply offended a whole bunch of my fellow (film loving) alums, but then i figured they all went to Vassar and (hopefully) have a comparable sense of humor...needless to say, i got over it
speaking of getting over it, a drama has blown up amongst (former) roommates...i really shouldn't say amongst, because said former roommate didn't have the balls to say any of these things to her current roommates faces...anyways, long story short: roommate X (if you have to ask, then clearly you haven't talked to me recently...haha, jk) moved to vista...oh and she's also a racist homophobe...not to mention an ignorant coward
she still hasn't told us she's moving out, even though all her stuff is gone...she did leave a few items, however, which we will call Price Management about and have them take away, because she was supposed to be entirely moved out yesterday. good thing! now we have more room to work on all of our puzzles and be losers and obsess over disney...grand.
speaking of being a "loser": i keep having moments of social dilemma... "to go out, or not to go out?" i want to go out and have fun, obvi, but going out to a bar, especially when i have no intention of drinking and also have work at 7 am the next day, is far from appealing. but, being the insecure little lady that i am, i hesitate in doing what i really want out of fear of looking like a "loser." but surely, to be going against ones own wishes is true loserdom, right? going out to have fun is one thing, but going out simply to "look cool" is incredibly lame
and so that brings us full circle, back to old farts: tonight, i will be an old fart and not go out because i'm tired and i have work at 7 am...sigh
So my flight was delayed until at least 2:00 am so I was like fuck that, and came home so now I will go to sleep and then I will go to Washington tomorrow afternoon and i'll miss the screening but guess what i've seen my movie already a million times the important thing is the reception which i will go to!
so while i was bored and with internet at the airport, i ended up friending a bunch of managers...oy vey...facebook is so silly
ok i'm going to sleep...just thought i'd keep you, internet, abreast of the flight situation....fackin' thunderstorms
Gawrsh i'm so full...i just had a leisurely meal at Macaroni Grill at the airport, because my plane is an hour and 20 minutes delayed...i failed to call to find this out, so i'm stuck here basically. but a delish meal it was. parmesean crusted artichokes, lasagna and a bellini...and now i only have 50 minutes to wait until i board...yippeeeeeeeeee :-P
so it's been an eventful couple of days...i started training for
Rock N' Rollercoaster
which is pretty much the coolest....as you can imagine, there is a lot of button pushing, which i already got to do all by myself! i launched and unloaded a million limos! AND i experienced the 7 am opening process, which includes walking around the building checking mechanical and safety type things AND riding the ride with the lights on! bam! turns out, the loop-the-loop is actually this crazy double loopy deal thing, not quite a corkscrew or barrel roll, but like an unwound and then wound again loop...it's pretty sweet, but hard to realize in the dark....so yeah that was pretty fackin' sweet. the day goes by quickly, because it's quite fast paced (unless of course, you go down....which you do...a lot). on my first day, they had their first E-Stop/Evac in like a month. Some kid and squirmed his arms into the middle of the harness and whoever was at launch base* pushed the Emergency Stop button, stopping all movement in the ride on a dime. The limo had made it as far as the first upside down (we don't know if it got up at all) but it was stopped right in front of the loop, so it was either just in time, or it had stopped on the loop, and slid backwards...GLOYVEN! needless to say, guests had to be evacuated and it was pretty sweet. i'm really excited. i even did grouping ("party of 3? rows 1 and 2, single rider in row 2") on my own, which was easier than i would think in some respects, but also harder than i would think in others
so my studio news debut is occurring on a loop as we speak all over the MGM Studios property...it looks alright i guess...i'm the only host ever it seems that knows how to smile. hilarious. i'm definitely going to do it again. i got a sweet pin AND a keychain...BONES!
bah, what a long delay! i'm going to have to take a cab once i get to D.C.....lame sauce!
so i had a supremely hillary moment today...my unique brand of girly boyishness shone through in one glorious telling of the "this guy!" joke to my manager Jay, my manager-in-training (Jedi Master) Danny Kelly, and the cast services manager, David, that i've been talking to, and it was super awkward and HILARIOUS! i'm totally going to be fired for inappropriate jokery but it was just too good! but David so totally asked for it...his face turned bright red and they all sat with their mouths hanging open for a wee bit after that...probably the cutest thing ever! i loved it.
i do have a very unique boyishness about me in many of my actions, which was totally acceptable or at least not uncommon where i have lived and worked before, but now it stands out a bit more...no wonder i haven't hooked up with any dudes yet down here...none of them are used to my uniquity (haha i love that "word")...anyways, it's a long way from the androgyny that ran rampant at vassar...i might have to work on my girliness if i want to get boned down here....haha see, there i go again.
i think the boys at work were probably impressed with the balls i had to tell that joke....but also totally frightened...they looked like they'd seen a ghost! it was amazing.
speaking of ghosts, halloween horror nights was SO CROWDED last night holy shit...johanna and i went on MIB (wracked up a sweet 218,000 pizzoints) and just got drunk and watched all of the high schoolers get scared by the chainsaw men... and this is probably one of my favorite pictures ever
ok so now the real question is: am i going to friend my managers on facebook? i've already friended one. i'm going to open this up to discussion with the public....
*the place/person that is the central communications hub for the ride, and also has the surveillance monitors for the actual ride part of the ride
